Carrie McMahon is the founder of Ground & Regulate. She spent more than 10 years in tech leadership, including two Chief of Staff roles, before training in yoga, somatics and nervous system work. Her differentiator is dual credibility: she has operated at a senior level inside fast-growing tech companies and trained in the physiology of stress and regulation.
-
The practice is built for high-performing corporate operators. These are people who deliver consistently but whose nervous systems stay stuck in a stress response even when they're off the clock.

Somatic work focuses on the body's stress responses rather than only thoughts or behavior. It draws on how the nervous system shifts between activation and rest, including concepts from polyvagal theory and vagal tone. Where traditional coaching often works at the level of mindset and systems, somatic work addresses the physical patterns that keep a person stuck in fight-or-flight.
-
Private coaching packages are built around what's actually draining you rather than a generic class structure. Carrie’s 6-week intro program includes 1:1 sessions, custom program design, a functional movement screen, a nervous system assessment, and weekly support. Sessions are 60 minutes, virtual or in person, and combine somatic techniques with trauma-informed movement tailored to your stress patterns. A typical session moves through a somatic check-in, breathwork, movement, and integration, but the balance shifts depending on what your nervous system needs that day. You leave with tools you can use on your own when you're activated late at night or need to ground before a tense conversation.

It's for professionals whose drive is fine but whose body never learned how to come down: people locked up from back-to-back meetings, stuck in fight-or-flight even when off the clock, crashing mid-afternoon regardless of sleep, or carrying Sunday anxiety into the weekend. The work focuses on building nervous system capacity so you can rest, set boundaries without guilt, and show up without running on fumes.
-
Both. Sessions are available virtually anywhere. For in-person sessions, Carrie is based in Walnut Creek, California, and travels within about 5 miles.
-
No. The practices are simple and accessible, built for busy and skeptical professionals. If you can breathe and move your body, you can do the work. There's no requirement to hold advanced poses or meditate for long stretches.
-
Productivity systems organize your time. This work changes how your body responds to stress. Many high performers have already tried morning routines, focus blocks, and meditation apps without lasting results, because the issue isn't a missing system, it's a nervous system that never learned to come down. When regulation and energy management are in place, the systems people already know start to actually work.
